Located in the southwest corner of Utah, St. George is situated above sea level at an elevation of 2,860 feet. The average annual temperature is approximately 61°F, and average annual rainfall is 8.3 inches. With hot summers and extremely mild winters, St. George is known as a winter haven for what the 50,000+ locals like to call "Snow Birds" (tourists who come to St. George to warm up away from the winter temperatures of the north).

Known for its excellent 12 area golf courses, St. George, Utah also has several tennis facilities, outdoor adventure activities, excellent dining, great entertainment and friendly people. People come to St. George for many reasons including the scenic beauty of locations such as: Zion National Park, Snow Canyon, Gunlock and Quail Lake State Parks, Sand Hollow Reservoir, and Pine Valley Mountain. Another fun site in the city is the Dinosaur Discovery Site at Johnson Farm, which is a site where dinosaur tracks and other fossils of ancient were found back in 2000. The diversity of terrain in the St. George area is spectacular.

St. George, Utah is home to the world Senior Games, St. George Marathon, and the St. George Musical Theater.

The Arts:

St. George is home to many entertainment options. For example, the Tuacahn Center for the Arts near Snow Canyon State Park is a $25 million facility and home to famous outdoor musical dramas and concerts. The Zion Canyon Giant Screen Theatre near Zion National Park offers two films; one film highlights the story of Zion National Park and the surrounding region. A very substantial schedule of concerts, plays, art shows and more are offered at various venues in the city, Dixie College, and private groups.

Activities in St.GeorgeThe St. George City Art Museum stages exhibits year-round featuring fine regional artists as well as traveling exhibits of national and international merit. Several excellent art shows are held at different venues during the year.


There are many restaurants that are within walking distance of the hotel. In the Zion Factory Store complex has several restaurants including: Outback Steakhouse, Starbucks, Mongolian BBQ, Vior’s Italian Bakery, and Carl’s Jr. Also bordering the hotel is Ruby River Steakhouse which features western décor and excellent steak, ribs, chicken, fish, and pasta dishes. In the shopping mall across the street there is a Chili’s, Red Lobster, Durango’s Grill, Quizno’s Sandwich Shop, Papa John’s Pizza, Panda Express, Gridiron Sports Grill, Joopa Jooce & Pretzelmania, and Koffee Kup. There are many more restaurants throughout St. George.

Dixie College:

Attractions in St.George UtahThe cultural heart of St. George is Dixie College. This comprehensive four year college has more than 7,000 students. The college is the catalyst for many of the great events and activities visitors enjoy, including the Southwest Symphony, the Celebrity Concert Series, the Rotary Bowl and other sports events, festivals, concerts, and tours. The college runs one of the most popular elder hostel programs in the country, as well as the Sun Desert Golf Academy.
